# Cadence Deploys Nvidia-Based Sovereign AI Compute Center in Munich for EDA and Digital Twin Workloads

Cadence Design Systems has activated a sovereign AI data center in Munich, Germany, expanding its European cloud infrastructure for electronic design automation (EDA), multiphysics simulation, and AI model training. The facility, powered by Nvidia Grace and Vera CPUs alongside Blackwell GPUs, hosts the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer and supports delivery through the Cadence OnCloud and Reality Digital Twin platforms. Announced October 26, 2026, the launch reflects a broader shift among EDA vendors toward regionally isolated, compliance-certified compute environments for semiconductor and systems design.

Technical Architecture and Compute Stack

The Munich facility is built around Nvidia’s accelerated computing stack. Cadence confirmed deployment of Grace and Vera CPU platforms paired with Blackwell GPUs, though the announcement did not disclose specific GPU counts, aggregate TFLOPS, or rack-level power densities. The Grace CPU is an Arm-based data center processor designed for high memory bandwidth and coherent CPU-GPU memory access, while Blackwell is Nvidia’s current-generation architecture for large-scale AI training and inference. The inclusion of Vera, Nvidia’s newer data center CPU platform, indicates Cadence is provisioning next-generation host processors alongside its existing Grace-based configurations.

These resources are organized under the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer, a system the company positions for AI-driven chip and system design workloads. Access is delivered through Cadence OnCloud, the vendor’s cloud consumption model for EDA and simulation software. The combination places specialized EDA workloads—place-and-route, signoff verification, computational fluid dynamics, and electromagnetic simulation—on GPU-accelerated infrastructure rather than traditional x86 compute clusters.

Cadence stated the facility will complement existing European cloud resources, including public cloud infrastructure in Frankfurt, without specifying whether the Munich site is company-owned, colocation-based, or operated through a third-party data center provider.
